MacBook Air Review

Rather than try to show off my technical writing skills in full or bore you to death, I thought I’d just hone in on key things that most people care about when trying to make a decision on purchasing portable computing devices.

The ‘MACBOOK AIR‘ in flight offers the following:

STORAGE TYPE - Flash storage which allows for making everything run super fast and very quiet (storing things, assessing files, graphics. etc.)

PROCESSORS & MEMORY – Intel Core 2 Duo processors and 64GB is the lowest memory capacity

CONNECTIONS – 2 USB Ports total, displaying one each on the outer left and right sides, 1 Mini Display Port, 1 MagSafe, 1 Microphone, and 1 Headphone connection

CAMERA & VIDEO – utilizes the new FaceTime  feature and is even thinner than the iPhone 4’s ; 4.86 millimeters (0.19 inch). The resolution ratio for the 11 inch is 16:9, which is even higher than resolution and clarity of a standard 13 inch. Video playback was great and streamed well with lots of speed and without any problems

AUDIO –  consists of stereo speakers, 1 omnidirectional microphone and a headphone minijack

DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT –  start out at 2.3 pounds for the 11 inch. It doesn’t feel as light as an iPad, but lighter than everything else laptop, etc. wise.

ERGONOMICS –  FULL fledged size keyboard that actually looks like it belongs on a standard 13 inch
and Multi-Touch glass track-pad (you can click, tap, scroll, pinch, swipe, drag, roll, etc. with as little or as many of your fingers as you please).

TOUCHSCREEN CAPABILITY – NO (maybe next time?)

BATTERY LIFE – According to Apple, the battery in use lasts can last up to 5 hours on the 11 inch and as much as  7 hours on the 13 inch.  This still isn’t as much as an iPad, but more than your standard laptop for sure. I, along with a few other curious constituents,  just went to test it out, so I can’t really vouch for the actual battery life.

PRICE – The 1.4 GHz 11-inch MacBook Air w/ 2GB of memory and 64GB of flash storage starts at $999 (US) and the 1.86 GHz 13-inch MacBook Air w/ 2GB of memory and 128GB of flash storage starts $1,299 (US)

So, to sum up, it’s much smaller, faster, capable, and less expensive than the first MACBOOK AIR.  Hope that helps out a little. **As with all other purchases, perform in depth research using your methods of preference before delving in**
